Ian Collins is a licensed clinician with almost a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. After graduating top of his class with a Bachelor’s in Social Work from East Carolina University, he provided clinical work at a variety of settings such as a juvenile detention center, the North Carolina school system, and as the assistant director of an arts therapy center for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
While receiving his Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Ian worked in an outpatient mental health clinic, treating the symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness with the homeless populations of Washington, DC. He also completed an externship as a psychotherapist at the counseling center of the Catholic University of America where he treated the symptoms depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, and gender issues.
By building a strong therapeutic alliance, Ian approaches treatment by focusing on empowering clients in a supportive and fun manner through Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
