Intentionality is an essential component of high-support programming. When a family enrolls at Academics West, we start with identifying the unique strengths and areas of improvement of the student.  Through conversations with the student, parent reports and past school reports, we create a tailored program that provides wraparound social-emotional and learning support.   

AW is a supportive community, a milieu, where teachers and clinical staff work collaboratively to use every experience as a valuable learning opportunity. A student’s team meets weekly to evaluate progress and to focus on short and long-term goals so they can be responsive as the student develops.

Developing students into hero’s and effective strategic learners takes time. Some days students have great successes and on other days they may experience failure. With the guided support of our dedicated clinical staff, those failures are powerful moments where they learn skills to see the benefits of those situations. As the process unfolds, our students tend to experience significant gains and can more fully engage in school academically, socially and emotionally.
