Summer is the default time for fun and relaxation. Unfortunately, summertime can also be a period of academic and personal regression when we don’t actively engage ourselves.

Avoid the Summer Slide 

The summer slide refers to students losing their academic skills during summer break. To stay engaged over the summer, . use the following practical strategies: 

Reading: Set aside ample time to read books/material that interests you. Experts encourage you to read fiction and non-fiction material to expand your knowledge and stimulate your imagination. 

You can start by curating a summer reading list and challenge yourself to finish reading a set number of books by the end of the summer break. 

Puzzles and Games: Engage in puzzles, brain teasers, and educational games. Such activities challenge your mind and help you develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 

Summer Classes: You can also enroll in summer classes or educational programs offered by local institutionsto explore new subjects, attain valuable knowledge, and interact with fellow peers. 

Moreover, summer classes offer you access to a structured learning environment, whether it’s a coding workshop, a specialized program, or taking a language course. 

Stick To A Schedule 

Even during summer, keeping a schedule will help you to stay organized, remain motivated and avoid boredom.. A working schedule may include the following: 

Learning Time: Allocate specific time slots for learning activities, including reading, practicing a new skill, or taking an online class.

Dedicate several hours daily for focused learning or use short study sessions spread throughout the week. 

Exercise and Outdoor Activities: Stay physically active by incorporating exercises into your routine. Try running, swimming, cycling, hiking, or being part of a local sports team. 

These and other outdoor activities provide a refreshing change of environment and promote overall well-being. Do a minimum of thirty minutes daily of cardio activity to keep your body healthy and energized.
