March was filled with meaningful moments across our community, from a creative student showcase to hands on learning experiences and well-deserved time to recharge. Each event reflected what makes Academics West so special, a supportive environment where students can grow, connect, and shine.
Hank the Therapy Dog
One of the highlights this month was the return of Hank, our beloved therapy dog. His visits continue to bring a sense of calm, comfort, and joy to students and staff. Whether stopping by classrooms or spending time with students during breaks, Hank plays an important role in supporting emotional well-being. These moments have a lasting impact and help students regulate, reset, and feel grounded throughout the school day.

Student Showcase
Our Student Showcase was a true celebration of creativity and self-expression. Students proudly shared projects that reflected their unique interests, talents, and perspectives. From visual art to hands-on installations, the showcase transformed our space into an immersive experience. It was incredible to see the confidence students brought to presenting their work and the pride they felt in sharing it with peers, teachers, and families. Events like this highlight the importance of giving students a platform to be seen and heard.
9th Grade Intrepid Field Trip
Our 9th-grade students took an exciting trip to the Intrepid Museum where students got to learn beyond the classroom. Exploring historic aircraft, the Space Shuttle Pavilion, and interactive exhibits, students engaged with history, science, and engineering in a hands-on way. This experience encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world connections bringing interdisciplinary learning to life in a meaningful and memorable setting.

Puzzle Club

Puzzle Club continued to be a favorite among students this month. Offering a space to collaborate, problem solve, and think critically, the club encourages both teamwork and persistence. Whether working through complex puzzles or enjoying friendly challenges with peers, students are building important executive functioning and social skills in a fun, low-pressure environment.
Spring Break
As March came to a close, students and staff headed into Spring Break a time to rest, recharge, and reset. Breaks like this are essential for maintaining balance and supporting overall well-being. We hope everyone enjoyed a well-deserved pause and returned feeling refreshed and ready for the months ahead.
Looking Ahead
March was a reminder of the power of community, creativity, and connection. We’re so proud of our students and all they continue to accomplish both inside and outside the classroom. We’re looking forward to everything still to come this spring!
