May was a month to celebrate at Academics West! From honoring our incredible teachers and clinicians to dancing the night away at our very first prom, our students made memories that will last a lifetime. Throughout the month, they explored the city on field trips, showcased their musical talents, wrapped up another successful track season, and enjoyed exciting Student Life activities with their peers. Here’s a look back at some of May’s highlights.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week was one of the highlights of May as we celebrated the incredible teachers, clinicians, teaching assistants, and trainees who make Academics West so special. Families shared thoughtful messages of gratitude, our Student Life Coordinator created a heartfelt video featuring students thanking their favorite staff members, and our co-founders surprised everyone with goodie bags. From a parent-sponsored staff lunch to the kind words shared throughout the week, our entire community came together to recognize the people who make a difference in our students’ lives every day.

AW Prom

This year marked Academics West’s very first Prom and it was a night to remember! Planned by our Heroes Council, the evening was filled with great food, music, games, karaoke, dancing, and a photo booth. It was wonderful to see students come together to celebrate, have fun, and make memories with their friends.

Field Day

Field Day brought students together for a day full of friendly competition, teamwork, and fun. Lower, Middle, and Upper School students enjoyed outdoor games and activities that encouraged collaboration, sportsmanship, and plenty of laughter. It was the perfect way to celebrate the spring season together.

Jam Band Music Club

Our JamBand Music Club wrapped up a fantastic season of making music together. Throughout the year, students learned how to read music, play in sync as a group, and perform songs on the ukulele and piano while singing along. One of their favorite performances was “Riptide,” showcasing all of the hard work and progress they made over the season.

Central Park Zoo Field Trip

Our Lower School students enjoyed a fun-filled day exploring the Central Park Zoo. They had the opportunity to see a variety of animals up close while learning about different habitats and wildlife from around the world. It was an exciting day of discovery that brought classroom learning to life.

Track Season Recap

Track season officially came to a close this month and we couldn’t be prouder of our student athletes. One Upper School student even challenged himself by competing in his first 200-meter race and crossed the finish line with determination. The season ended with all four runners competing together in the relay, showcasing the teamwork, perseverance, and dedication they built throughout the year. Congratulations to our Firebirds on an incredible season!
