Summer Semester

The intensive six-week summer program at Academics West was developed to meet the needs of middle and high school students (grades 6-12) who are seeking/have:

• Credit recovery 
• To reduce academic regression (“summer slide”) 
• Academic enrichment 
• Have a 12-month IEP 
• Need extra learning and/or social-emotional support 
• Counseling services  
• College Guidance 
  
  This intensive academic semester enables students to make up credits so they can graduate on time or avoid repeating an academic year. Our staff of educators can instruct all New York State Common Core classes as well as enriching electives. Additionally, our team of learning specialists are able to help students reduce academic regression and work on critical learning strategies.  As a high support program, Academics West also offers students summer students an array of counseling services (e.g., individual, group, art therapy) that are integrated into their school day. Of course, we also know it is summertime and students want to enjoy their share of fun. The summer session includes field trips and exciting weekly non-academic activities and events to ensure a positive social experience.
